Cultivated plants

One theme in our garden is herbs and we cultivate as many as we can get hold of. The ground is suitable for this as the soil is dry, welldrained and can be very hot in the summer. Herbs are likely to grow in places not liked by other plants. These are also unpopular among deer and are left when many of the other plants are eaten. Some herbs though, like Rosemary, Basil and Lemon verbena, have to be stored indoors in the winter. In addition to herbs we also grow edible flowers - these are used to decorate all kinds of dishes or as ingredients for salads.
